Type 1 perfectionist here, just getting into the Enneagram. Sometimes I wonder if my need for order pushes people away. Any other 1s struggle with this in their relationships? How do you find a middle ground?

Finding the middle ground as a Type 1 can be tough. I try to remind myself that not everything can be perfect, and it's okay to let go sometimes. How do you cope with this?

Hey there, As a fellow Type 1, I can absolutely relate to your experience. It can be challenging when our need for perfection and order is misunderstood by others. I've certainly had moments where it has created discomfort in relationships. However, I've found a few ways to find a bit of a middle ground. 1. Communication: It's really important to express to others why you are a perfectionist and how it affects you. It gives them the chance to understand where you're coming from and make allowances. 2. Flexibility: As a perfectionist, it's instinctive to want things to be in order all the time. But it's essential to recognize and accept that life is unpredictable. This realization has helped me ease a bit and has made my relationships smoother. 3. Understanding others: Not everyone is going to be a perfectionist like us. Individuals differ, and we need to respect that perspective. This is perhaps the key to any successful relationship. Remember, we are all humans and flawed in our own ways; no one can create a ‘perfect’ life. Acceptance is what we really need, acceptance of imperfections, in ourselves and others. Take it one step at a time. Hope this helps, and feel free to reach out if you need to discuss more. Best of luck on your Enneagram journey. It has been truly enlightening for me, and I hope it will be for you too!

Hey there 👋 As a fellow Type 1 perfectionist, I totally understand what you're going through 😅 The quest for order and perfection can indeed push people away at times. Communicating your needs and understanding that others might not have the same standards as you is key 🔑 🗝️. Also, remind yourself that it's okay to let things be imperfect sometimes. Being patient with yourself and others is a process, but navigating it will certainly help to find that middle ground. Keep going, it gets better! 💪🌈😊

Hi there! Fellow Type 1 here. 👋 I totally get where you're coming from. The struggle for order and perfection is real, and it can sometimes make relationships tricky. 😅 I've found that small steps towards flexibility can make a big difference. For example, setting aside some "imperfection time" in your day where you allow things to be a little messy can help you relax and connect better with others. 🧘‍♂️ Also, open communication with your loved ones about your needs and being open to their perspectives can create a healthy balance. 💬❤️ It's all about finding that sweet spot where you feel at ease but not overbearing. 🌟 Anyone else have tips or experiences to share?
